food was horrible!! went there for mothers day, had the chicken parm, it tasted like rubber. way over priced for the quality you get !
What an absolute disappointment. I cannot emphasize this enough. We went for a staff Christmas party and unanimous consensus was that not one of us (24 in total) would EVER go again. The chicken was listed to have a sauce. No sauce. When we said something, they brought a dish of cold, diced tomatoes, along with green sliced olives!! We had the chicken and the veal and both tasted like it was straight from M&M's. We got our strawberry/chocolate tortufo dessert and asked if there were any nuts (allergy to nuts in our party). We were told no. We began to eat and asked again for the server to be sure. She came back and told us no but there were no guarantees. Everyone at our table definitely had chopped nuts at the very bottom of the tortufo ice cream. The mixed salad tasted as if there was not any dressing on it at all...we were told that it was olive oil, but there was no flavour or even any dressing evident. Bruschetta was on the menu and there was not any left by the time our table of six went up to get it. We had to request more foccaccia bread. Baskets were advertised, but we received a small plate for the centre of the table. One small dish of olive spread for the whole table. The server requested immediate payment when a drink or bottle of wine was ordered(cash only!!). A classier restaurant would have allowed you to run a tab. Tables separate from each other, even though this was a group function (and way too close). I could go on and on...What a disappointment in every aspect, especially as the meal was not at all cheap. Would never go again and will let others know of the disappointing experience at our Christmas party.
I have never tasted such excellent food. Everything is fresh and you even get a Birthday Song from the head waiter George. What a beautiful voice. The seafood is delicious, the lamb is fabulous and all his Italian food is made fresh. His bread is also homemade and out of this world. Good Luck to this restaurant because they certainly deserve it. Marla
We went to Al Casale to celebrate my father's birthday. We had been there in the past and enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere. This time however was different. We asked for a vegetarian meal for my husband and the dish suggested had ham in it. When we brought this to the attention of the waiter, he said he would fix the problem. My husband was given a pasta dish with vegetables. What was so upsetting is that we were charged for the dish he didn't eat even though it was a mistake of the restaurant and when we brought this up, they felt is was not their mistake to fix. We will never go back again.
We took some good friends to Al Casale. Originally we wre going to go somewhere else but the other restaurant was closed for the holidays. We are very glad the other place was closed or else we would never have discovered this jewel nestled in Newmarket. Al Casale is very nice indeed. As you make your way through the maze-like rooms to get to your seat, you pass by the bar and rooms full of people enjoying themselves. The service is warm and friendly and you are made to feel special by everyone. The food is delicious, perfectly prepared and presented. The service is attentive (though not obsequious) and the atmosphere warm and friendly from the moment you arrive and take your coat, to the moment they shake your hand and thank you for coming. We will certainly go back, again and again.
Excellent! We really enjoyed the food, the ambiance, the friendly staff. A little expensive but worth it. A bit of Tuscany, and it must be the olive oil that they use. On the way out we made a reservation to bring my Italian parents here on his birthday in two weeks. He will feel at home, and she will love it too.
Excellent atmosphere, service and food. As good as or better than comparable restaurants that I have eaten at downtown Toronto, but the hospitality at Al Casale is without parallel.
I was very happy to see that this resturant was wheelchair friendly and took my family there for a meal. The food was good but the service left a little to be desired. The meal cost two hundred dollars for four of us. We did not have any alcoholic beverages. We were setted and finished our meal in about one and a half hours. We were handed our bill before we had finised our meal. I would not recomend the resturant to my friends. It was not a fine dinning experience.
Food tasted home made and quality was second to none. Our hosts made us feel like family. We were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant of this quality so close by.
Wonderful Atmosphere and the food? I cannot describe in words how incredible the food was. I will be booking my wedding anniversary there. Mama Mia - So good!
